DUB SPENCER & TRANCE HILL
Dub Spencer & Trance Hill is a dub band from Lucerne, founded in 2003. The group describes their music as “instrumental psychedelic dub-reggae with rock and trance influences”. A regular tour companion of the band for several years has been the Munich-based sound and dub specialist, Umberto Echo. From 2003 to 2006, Dub Spencer & Trance Hill was comprised of Marcel Stalder (bass), Adi Pflugshaupt (electronics, saxophone), and Christian Niederer (drums). They independently released five EPs before signing with the label Echo Beach in 2006. With the addition of guitarist Manougazou, they created the acclaimed album “Nitro”. After Pflugshaupt and Niederer left, Julian Dillier (drums), Markus Meier (guitar, vocals), and Philipp Greter (keyboard, organ, melodica, dubs) joined. Their album “Burroughs In Dub”, released in 2014, honored William S. Burroughs and received praise for its psychedelic dub fusion. The band’s sound evolved with each release, including their 2020 album “Tumultus II”, which diverged from traditional reggae.
