CHRISTINA KUBISCH
Christina Kubisch is a German composer, sound artist, and professor known for her innovative blend of electronic and acoustic music in multimedia installations. She explores unconventional sources for sound, aiming to create immersive experiences. Kubischs career spans from the 1970s, gaining recognition for her unique approach to sound. She has experimented with various mediums such as electromagnetic induction and ultraviolet light. Notable works include “Electrical Walks”, where participants explore cities with specialized headphones, and “The Clocktower Project”, a permanent installation at MASS MoCA. Kubischs artistic journey intertwines with her interest in the 1950s vases, inspiring new musical concepts. Her diverse body of work is celebrated in the tenth edition of DUR, showcasing her talent in crafting immersive soundscapes. Vinyl format complements her creations, enhancing the sensory experience by blending subtle crackles into the sonic landscape. In 1988, Kubisch received the Award of the German Industrial Association and took on a residency grant at the Barkenhoff in Worpswede, Germany.
