ANIKA

Anika a.k.a Annika Henderson (D/GB), born 1987 in Woking, UK is a musician, poet, DJ, radio-host and video-director, most known for her 2010 breakthrough album “Anika” (Stones Throw/Invada) with Bristol band Beak, featuring the Kinks cover of “I Go To Sleep”. She started her career as a journalist but gained recognition for her experimental electronic music. In 2010, her debut album “Anika”, produced by Geoff Barrow of Portishead, propelled her to fame. In 2014 she formed the band Exploded View, in Mexico City, and together they released two albums and an EP via Sacred Bones. Performing as a musician, poet and video-director, Henderson switches between the disciplines with ease, as if they were lyrics in one of her songs. With her spoken-texts, she allows the electronic elements to flow and binds them to multidimensional performances. In 2021, 11 years after the release of her debut, came solo album number 2: “Change”, which was shortlisted for the VIA 2022 Best Album Award. In June 2023, she released her experimental live album “Eat Liquid” as a limited edition LP.
